A big Hey to all our reader ;o)))
First the bad news - The E-Go's. After a frank and honest chat between the Raven: label and the band we have mutually decided not to progress with the signing. The E-Go's are a truly fab band and their recordings were progressing really well too. However, we are probably not big enough to handle their needs as they progress so all we can do is say thanks and offer them all our love and best wishes for what should be a glorious future. Cheers - Andy and Si.
On the good news front
We had an excellent weekend of recording with a new band to us called We All Need Heroes. In that short time they have managed to leave with 4 exceptional demo tracks. I just await permission before I upload any but cheers guys - Si said you were a pleasure to work with.
Discotheque Wreck were also in for final mixing and mastering of 2 tracks they have been working on for the last 500 years ;o). Actually just over a few days but they are a very complex and multilayered dance / indie band. Again - gimme a few days and you can hear em once approved.
We had the pleasure of no less than 2009's Brummie of the Year / Kerrang! DJ and music legend Johnny Doom in yesterday recording vocals for...well, I can't tell you what for...... However, if this ever gets back to Mr. Doom....Erosion is a staring agog at the sun with eyes wide open, brain sandblasting masterpiece. Now I get it!
We also finished, completely, never come back ;o), Zanzibar's album......Zanzibar......actual......proper.......songwriting.
And Carol......how can we forget Carol......? What the hell is your surname?? Carol has been writing for a new theatre production and popping in and out for a few weeks effortlessly putting down her tunes, lead and backing vocals to songs as she finishes them (5 or 6 now??). To have such a consumate professional breezing through the place is lovely.
And the ever incredible Lokey - now up to 14 tunes, picking up more interest and momentum every day. It is a project of Si (our head producer) and The Ox (poet / performance artist / great big bushy beard) and they have now been joined on several tracks by Si and Seano (Drums and Guitar - PB and LUTS). Seriously - this album is gonna fry brains.....every song gets better and better.
So - no time to chat.....I am also sorting out my car insurance and doctors appointments after getting rammed up the rear on Tuesday. Couldda been worse but ouch - that hurts!!!
Smell y'all soon.

Yes.....it is true......
In the meantime it is good to be back......our website has been down for nearly 2 weeks due to server errors with our suppliers ( no names!!) but we are back up at www.musoplex.com - where this news will also end up!!!
Back to business - as well as just finishing some excellent recording sessions for Red Lite Run (hooky, catcy, indie), Skull Fox (due to be the best metal band of this generation), Zanzibar (proper, adult songwriters) and Police Bastard (in final mastering.....brutal punk) we have also just finished the latest in TV recording for Race TV and spoken word recording for www.imagetextimage.com. We are also filming at Rebellion at Blackpool in August for the forthcoming Police Bastard video. Look for a fat, middle aged man with a film camera sticking out like a ore thumb but singing along....that'll be me!!!!
We have also agreed to release and record the next single for local legends the E-Go's (www.egoarmy.co.uk) and hope to capture sheer brilliance of their live set on audio and video prior to release late 2009 or early 2010. Sincere thanks to the E-Go's for giving us the opportunity to promote them - the sort of band I'd go and see day in, day out anyway. Check out their fledgling website which has got some tunes from their last EP and a video for The Lights and news of up and coming gigs as well as a chance to join the fanclub - The Ego Army!!!!
More to follow but I have got so much ironing to do :o))))
Peas out....Andy :o)
Musoplex
Two new metal recordings....
Skull Fox - Studio favorites with a new hybrid live recording of a new EP - this track (For the Sake of Retribution) will be on their new EP. Launch TBD but just how much have these guys grown in a year??? Excellent.
New to the studio were the very impressive Shot in the Dark - If All Else Fails was one of 3 songs done in just a day.....awesome drums.....
More recordings to post soon :o).
Andy
I shall be joining The Cubans on The Bridge FM on Wed night to play some recordings old and new from the loveable Wolverhamptonites.
A
The Cubans have recorded a new AA single which will be released on iTunes and hard copy to coincide with their headline gig at the Wulfrun on 7th March.
The following week sees their rescheduled BBC Radio Introducing.... slot - so listen up...
The songs were recorded at Framework Studios (at Musoplex) by Si Reeves
All of the Cubans' back catalogue can now be found on iTunes.
Here is a taste of what is coming your way soon....
Ohhhh I was excited this year....it was time for our (me and Vel) annual trip to the hallowed Wolves Civic to see the Human League on tour and with the addition of two more of Sheffield's finest (Heaven 17 and ABC) on the bill the venue was sold out in advance and even approaching it there seemed to be a tangible buzz among the people making their way in.
The only fly in the ointment.....we were dying to see H17 as we had only caught them many, many years before in the 1st live tour at the NEC (supporting Erasure). However, despite getting to the Little Civic at ten past seven massive queues and a ticket mix-up left us missing their entire set!! Gutted....
When we did get in it was in time to see Glenn Gregory happily signing autographs, having his picture taken and chatting to fans at the merch stall. There seemed to be nothing but a genuine warmth in it all and they went up another notch in my estimation - just sorry I missed the show.
ABC - I wasn't looking forward to them to be honest - not being a big fan of Lexicon of Love (but quite a fan of How to be a....Milionaire and even bits of Beauty Stab) - but they were sensational. A 7-piece outfit of pro-musicians capable bringing the lavish Trevor Horn production to life and Martin Fry's crisp and still very powerful and tonally spot on voice. Seriously I was amazed at just how well it came over and All of My Heart was a belter.
The Human League - a very quick turnround from a solid stage crew and BANG - what a show. Visually stunning on a split-level fully lit LED set and a fast-paced hit-laden show - cut short by the presence of 2 major support bands which had its positives and negatives as gone from the set was Human but also missing were All I Ever Wanted, Marianne and Heart Like a Wheel - but I only realised that this morning. The band looked really comfortable in their skins last night and it was felt throughout the entire sold-out audience. Nothing new (except the incredible visuals) in the set - but with news of a new release on the way?? - but it was The Human League at the top of their game. How good???? We are trying to fit another tour date in to catch the missed Heaven 17, the excellent ABC and a simply brilliant League on top form.
So now then.....Travelogue live anybody???
Andy - happy and hoarse
Still to be mastered but we love these guys.....pop-metal at its best - a musical form with a big future in the UK and these guys do it really well - check em out.....
BTW - these are also samples of a photo shoot for the EP....cheers to Peej
Actually - pics to follow - look at the time - I have work at 7 in the morning :o))
byeeeee
Interesting times at the studio - that's why we opened it...
We are just about entering our second year after the build of the new place and it seems life forever ago and just last week all at once. Spend too long thinking about it and my head turns to fog....
The Skullfox artwork is done and awaiting band approval - all songs will also be remastered prior to pressing - although they are still sounding hot after 2 months and a revisit - which is always pleasing :o)
Pete is just finishing his videos for Telegramme before moving onto some more artwork design for The Dreaming Tree.
We have our promoters in place to help us kill off the whole robbing BOTB concept from Autumn 2008 - keep watching.
Andy's recording of Evangeline's Easy Now went top 5 (from over 25, 000 acoustic songs) in some online acoustic charts whose name evades me at the mo but I'll look it up later - still....very nice for all concerned! :o)
Monday and Tue this week sees 60% of the legendary Nightingales in to pre-prep record new material before flying off to take it to the other band members - how cool a lifestyle does that sound?
Hidden in here is a huge congrats to Alex too....well done buddy.....I believe the contacts are signed today?
So now I am off on a week's holiday and you are all up to date. If anybody needs anything - call or e-mail the other 2 - but don't expect anything before midday - these guys are serious artists and should be treated as such!!!!! :o)
See you all soon.
Andy
